Individual Adult and Youth Counselling Services

Along with my insight and specialization in Grief Counselling, I also provide support for those challenged with adjusting and adapting to the complexity experienced in other major life changes and interpersonal difficulties; the particular problems and challenges experienced differently by youth and adults.

Consistently, my approach is one of compassionate listening, support and challenge in shifting from conditioned habits of reacting ‘to’ life, to confident and intentional response ‘in’ life, to move toward healing, recovery, and renewal. Together we will work toward reclaiming a sense of security and conviction, and courage to step into new possibilities for your emotional and spiritual growth, physical health and well being.

Challenges I May Be Able to Help With:

  • General Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Career and Work Place, School Issues/Stress
  • Divorce and Separation
  • Marital/Relationships
  • Family Issues and Dynamics
  • Parenting Issues
  • Personal Growth
  • Stress and Stress Management

John James and Russell Friedman describe recovery succinctly (paraphrased):

Recovery means feeling better. Recovery means claiming your circumstances instead of your circumstances claiming you and your happiness. Recovery is finding new meaning for living, without the fear of being hurt again. Recovery is being able to enjoy fond memories without having them precipitate painful feelings of regret or remorse. Recovery is acknowledging that it is perfectly all right to feel sad from time to time and to talk about those feelings no matter how those around you react. Recovery is being able to forgive others when they say or do things that have hurt you. Recovery is realizing that your ability to talk about what you are experiencing is indeed normal and healthy, not shameful or ‘psychotic’. You don’t need fixing. You need a companion to support, challenge, and encourage you by acquiring skills to face your challenges and discover your own solutions.
